Choices
CHOICES
Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
We make choices everyday, some seem insignificant while others, many times, are life changing. Here Joshua was asking Israel to make a choice of whom they would serve, the gods that were no gods or the one true living GOD. He made the statement for himself and his household that they would serve the LORD. I think we need that kind of fathers today that make up their minds that they will serve the LORD and that in turn their house will also. But many today will let children make the choice for the whole household. Look Dad and Mom if they live under your roof, eat your food and wear the clothes you pay for you are to set the house rules. When I grew up it was that way, you didn’t tell your parents what they were going to do or for that matter what you were going to do, if you liked sitting down anyways.
I have made my share of bad choices down thru the years, but I got a couple right.
I chose to follow Christ instead of the world and that my friend was the best choice I have ever or ever will make. I have a long list of things that I did make the right choice on, but none as great as that one. Many people by making no choice in fact are making a choice. When the gospel is preached and one does not heed it they are in fact choosing to reject Christ and that may have dire consequences if they depart this life having rejected the Savior.
Some years ago there was a country song that was called Choices, George Jones sang it and the chorus of it said: “I've had choices Since the day that I was born, There were voices,That told me right from wrong If I had listened, No, I wouldn't be here today, Living and dying,With the choices I made. How true these words are.
I would ask you to choose this day, while you are reading this, to accept Christ as your Savior if you haven’t already done so. If you are saved I would ask you to choose to serve Him more and better with everyday you live. But it is your choice, I can’t make it for you and neither can anyone else.
Choose wisely for our choices today have eternal consequences!
Have a great day.
