Do You Know The Lord

DO YOU KNOW THE LORD

Judges 2:7 And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel.

8 And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.

9 And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathheres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash.

10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

I think that is a fair question to ask. In our day there are many who do not know the Lord. They have heard about Him, and may know something about Him. But it matters if you know Him. In the book of Judges we are shown a roller coaster ride the people had in their lives as they struggled spiritually after the death of Joshua. In one of the saddest indictments in scripture it is repeated again and again in Judges “And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD”. That could well be said of America today.

Even though many do not know the Lord today He knows all of us, and more about us than we probably are willing to admit. He knows our name and what we are doing and even what we are thinking.

Exodus 33:17 And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

Psalm 139:2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

He knows you, but how does He know you: as one of His own or as one that knows Him not? He is easy to get to know. He gives us His word to study and we have access to Him though prayer. If you will come to Him, scripture says He “will in no wise cast you out”. So if you don’t know Him let me suggest that you get to know him intimately.

S. M. Lockridge in his famous “That’s My King, Do You Know Him?” asks over and over do you know Him. I too would ask you today do you know Him? He certainly knows you and wants to be known of you.

Have a great day
