God Uses The Small Things

GOD USES THE SMALL THINGS

Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Micah prophesied of the birthplace of our Lord Jesus Christ some 700 years before the event happened. The name Bethlehem means house of bread and Ephratah means fruitfulness. Micah said it was a little place. It may have been little but the greatest man that ever was born, was born in this small town. The one who evil spirits obeyed, who could heal the sick, give sight to the blind, give voice to the dumb and calm the billowing seas was born in this small town. Even though He was 100 percent God, He was also 100 percent man He was born of a virgin in this small town.

You, my friend,, may have come from a small town of humble means, but know this God can use you for His glory and honor. Maybe more so than if you had been born with the proverbial silver spoon in your mouth. Do you remember the widow that cast her two mites in and it was all she had, while others gave more out of thei riches.

Luke 21:2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had

3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

Even though the Bible doesn’t say it I think her two mites went farther than their riches. There was a song that used to be sung quite a bit a few years ago called “Little is much when God is in it it”, I know this to be true not only from this account in the Bible but from something I saw first hand. Several years ago we were having a fund raising dinner for Free Will Baptist Family Ministries. It was just a donation based fund raiser, just give what you could. This night we had a very dismal turnout. We had a gentleman, Eurice Stone, who attended our church. He was a fixture of the church. He never owned a home, drove a car and never married. But he loved Jesus. Eurice was sitting there and he saw others dropping money in the donation box and asked,”Are you charging to eat?” We said, “ No Bro Eurice, its just donations.” He said,” I’ve got a dollar” and that was all he had. People said no you don’t have to do that but he insisted on giving his only dollar. That night when we had one of the lowest turnouts we had ever had for a fundraiser we took in over $1000.00. You think what you want to but you will never convince me that it wasn’t all due to Eurice’s dollar donation. For I believe God still uses small things for great things. Never think what you do is small or doesn’t matter, for that small thing may be what God takes and does something great with.

Have a great day
