Immanuel
Immanuel
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
The Hebrew definition of Immanuel is: with us is God. This was given again in
Matthew 1:23Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
In this instance the Greek word is used which has the same meaning as the Hebrew. The definition for Emmanuel is: God with us, a name of Christ. That is who Jesus was. He was God and He came to earth in a fleshly form to fulfill all the prophecies that had been given about Him.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
If you deny the truth that Jesus and God are one, then you deny the tenants of Christianity. I have heard the argument that this would be impossible but, I will remind you with God all things are possible. If Jesus were not God in the flesh then why would He have made the statements He did such as;
John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
John 10:30 I and my Father are one.
You ask me to explain how this can be. It is a little over my theological understanding. But I am not confused as some are in saying if we believe this, then we believe in 3 different god’s. We don’t. There is one God. I’ll try and explain it like this.
You have a pan of water and freeze it, it becomes ice but in fact it is still water. You take that same pan of water and boil it and it becomes steam. Yet it is still water. That my friend is a simple way of putting it, but it stands true. The same with God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are the same only different. Now are you thoroughly confused? Let’s get back to the today’s thought. Jesus came to earth in a humble way in a stable, laid in a manger, and grew to be the greatest man that ever walked this earth. He died on a Roman cross, was buried and rose the third day, ascended to Heaven where he is seated at the right had of the Father. God became a man so that He could save the world from sin, death, and Hell. And as He was here on earth before and in the Revelation it says that God will dwell with His people.
Reevlation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
HAVE A GREAT DAY
