Not Forsaken

NOT FORSAKEN

The words forsaken, forsook and forsake all have basically the same meaning, to leave, desert or leave behind. We probably all have felt left or deserted at one time or another. Jesus felt it on the cross

Mark 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Paul felt it at his first trial.

2Timothy 4:16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.

Then again, when he needed him Demas, who had been a fellow servant had left him..

2Timothy 4:10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

Jesus tells the disciples that He is always near and will never leave them and I think that would hold true to us as will

John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Paul reminds us that even in times of trouble and persecution we are over comers.

2Corinthians 4:8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

God promised his children that He would not let them be overcome. I believe if we trust Him he will do the same for us.

Isaiah 43:1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

Child of God you are not forsaken no matter if man has deserted you. You will not be forsaken in the future no matter how bleak the future looks in your eyes. Just look to Jesus and know He is with you now and forever.
