Pouring Out
Mark 14:3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
Here we have the writing of how a woman came to Jesus and poured out a very costly item on Him. In John chapter 12 we are told that the woman was Mary the sister of Lazarus and Martha. The spikenard was very valuable. Some writers speculate that it was maybe a life savings. But she poured it out on Jesus. In Matthew and Mark it says on His head but John says on his feet and that she dried them with her hair. In any case, head or feet, she poured out on Jesus at a very great cost to her. Should we not do the same today? You may not have great wealth or valuable things but you have something you can pour out on Him.
Luke 21:2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
You may say, How can I pour out on Jesus as He is in heaven? Remember the scripture:
Matthew 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
You can pour out on Jesus by pouring out on others. Remember the acronym for JOY,
J-Jesus, O-Others, Y-Yourself. If you will pour out yourself for Jesus you will find great joy.
What have you poured out of yourself on Jesus?
Have a great day
