PRAY

Pray

1Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

In Paul’s closing words in his second letter to the believers at Thessalonica, he gives some parting instruction and part of it was to pray without ceasing and to give thanks for everything. Sounds easy enough, but is it? I don’t think that Paul was telling us to not do anything but pray every second of everyday. I think he was telling them and us to be in a state where we can go to pray at any second. Let’s be real. If I’m calling someone to get a hold of God on my behalf I am not going to call someone that will have to pray for themselves half of a day before they can pray for anyone else. We need to always be in a condition that we can pray at the drop of a hat and sometimes we need to just drop the hat ourselves. Then the matter of giving thanks in every thing, that is the hard one. Some things its just hard to be thankful forwhen you are in the midst of a storm. I can’t tell you today that I am thankful for a gallbladder that has quit. But I can be thankful that the Lord is with me, thankful for doctors, nurses, medicines, and the list goes on. But I can’t say I’m thankful for the pain and when in the midst of a “spell”

when you are hurting so bad, not knowing which end is up, I just would be lying if I said I was thankful for that.

These next few verses seem to spell out the praying without ceasing.

Romans 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Colossians 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

1Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

I think it is evident God wants us to be all about prayer, on a daily, hourly, or even minute by minute basis. There is a lot to pray about and for. We all know multitudes that are sick and hurting, families that have lost loved ones.

the evil that can only be fought on our knees, and most of all we all know many who need to be saved. If we could we have enough to keep us busy praying all the time. Then there is the giving thanks in every thing. Don’t think you have anything to pray about think again.

In II Thessalonians 5:25 Paul says “Brethren, pray for us.” I think we all as Christians would have that request even if we don’t voice it as Paul did.

PRAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a great day
