Truth
TRUTH
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
In the day we live in people play fast and loose with the truth. It feels like you cannot tell what is the truth, when one says this and another says something the very opposite. One is wrong and not telling the truth. Pilate was concerned with this I think when he asked Jesus the question in John 18:38. Knowing what the truth of the matter at hand, the accusations made against Jesus, were they true or not.
John 18:38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.
Pilate had the truth in front of him and did not realize that Jesus was pure from falsehood. He had spoken the truth always.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Webster in his 1828 dictionary gives the following definitions of truth: 1. Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been, or shall be. 2. True state of facts or things. The duty of a court of justice is to discover the truth Witnesses are sworn to declare the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth 3. Conformity of words to thoughts, which is called moral truth 4. Veracity; purity from falsehood; practice of speaking truth; habitual disposition to speak truth; as when we say, a man is a man of truth 5. Correct opinion.
But Jesus stood there that day the embodiment of truth and Pilate may have realized it, but, for fear of the crowd he would not stand up to them. If the crowd realized who Jesus was they weren’t willing to let Him overtake their plans and visions for what should happen. I think we have a similar thing going on today, where man is not willing to share the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth for fear it may cost them monetarily or could cost them standing with their piers or maybe cost them votes if they are politicians. But please just tell me the truth, whether good, bad or ugly just tell the truth. The verse we started with is so true, the truth will make you free. Jesus will make you free from whatever has you bound. He will set you free, if only you will come to Him and accept the truth. The spoken truth will set you free as well. In this time of pandemic so many are bound by fear of so many things and the experts are telling us many different things. They contradict each other daily and by this we can tell some one is not telling the truth. PLEASE JUST TELL US THE TRUTH. This is why I love good hard, gun barrel strait preaching where the word is not sugar coated, but it is truth preaching. Many have built great riches and followings by telling people what they want to hear rather than what they need to hear. Just living a good moral life will not get you to heaven. It will take salvation that can only come by being born again by faith in God’s son Jesus Christ!
Have a great day
