A Blessed Message Part 3

A BLESSED MESSAGE PART 3

Matthew 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

The word blessed is used 9 times in this passage. Blessed means to be well off or happy. When we hear well off, many times we think of worldly things such as money and possessions. But the well off being spoken of here is inwardly, it speaks of one’s senses or inward feelings.

In verse 5 we are told that those that are meek, are well off or happy and shall inherit the earth. The meek meaning humble or mild, shall be an heir to the earth, speaking of the soil, country, ground, land, world. That being said we can see these people in scripture.

Matthew 18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

1Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

All I have to do to stay humble is just remember who and what I am. I have nothing to boast of in myself. Salvation thru Jesus Christ is all I have to boast in, not that I deserve it, but thanks be to God I have it. Because of that I am well off and can be happy. Is your happiness in the Lord or in things of this world? If it is of this world it is not true happiness. Trust Jesus to save you and find the true happiness of life.

Have a Great Day!
