Consider Your Ways
CONSIDER YOUR WAYS
Haggai 1:5 Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
This passage is talking about the people building their own houses and having them fixed up and the Lord’s house being in ruin. They were planting and not having a harvest, eating and not being satisfied, drinking and their thirst not quenched, their clothing could not keep them warm and they could not keep the wages they earned. Was this a punishment from God? I think it was, they were more concerned with their own stuff rather than the things of God.
Now I want to look at this passage as it applies to us today. I am afraid we look at others with a judgmental view without considering our own actions (ways). Many times we are quick to condemn others for the very things we are guilty of ourselves.
Luke 6:41 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
6:42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.
Why does it seem so many are lacking in so many areas of their lives? Again many have forsaken the things of God for the things of this world. I know many have forsaken the assembly of their selves with the local church today. I know we still have the Covid virus and some have health issues that prevent them from being around others at this time. But there are others that are going everywhere else and doing other things. They are neglecting the things of God not only in this area but in other areas of their lives as well. Matthew tells us to seek God’s kingdom first and His righteousness and you will be clothed and fed.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these
things shall be added unto you.
Have you considered your ways?
Have a great day
