Trouble Is Coming

TROUBLE IS COMING

Zephaniah 1:14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.

Do you remember September 11, 2001? Many of the children don’t remember the day just what they have heard about it. I can tell you where I was when I heard the news story of the plane hitting the World Trade Center. We were on vacation and the town we were in just stopped, everyone was gathered around a television listening for the latest. Then when another plane hit the WTC, Pentagon and finally one crashed in a field in Pennsylvania, due to some brave men that were willing to sacrifice themselves rather than let these evil perpetrators crash into a more populated area. It had folks thinking that this was the end. Many daily desk calendars had the above passage as the scripture for that day. As bad as that day was it pales in comparison to what is coming to this world one day. Here we have a small taste of what was to come.

In verse 14 we are told that the day of the Lord is near and getting closer, faster. Have you noticed how time seems to be flying by? When I was a kid my folks would say the older they got the faster time seemed to go. I now know what they were talking about.

Verse 14 goes on to say that the mighty man shall cry bitterly, I think it is at the voice of the Lord speaking of what is coming.

In verse 15 it says it is a day of wrath, a day of trouble, distress, of wasteness and desolation. It is going to be a bad day, Then it goes on to say it will be a day of darkness and gloominess, also a day of clouds and thick darkness. Wrath, trouble, distress and desolationall in one day, we have never experienced that. Can you imagine the streets, interstates and businesses being totally empty, wasted. It will be a time of darkness, gloominess and thick darkness like we have never known.

Verse 16 speaks to the trumpet and alarm sounding. It appears that they would not hear just as man will not hear the Word today but only scoffs. It speaks of the fenced cities and high towers, these will not escape.

1Thessalonians 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

Prophecy has a near and a far meaning and in these scriptures maybe an intermediate meaning. For on 9/11/2001 we saw men and women weeping, there was trouble and distress, buildings (high towers) were destroyed. There were clouds of smoke from fires and the falling buildings. The skies over New York City were filled with ash and dust clouds, It is easy to see the comparison. But this was not the Day of the Lord. 9/11 will pale in comparison to that day. Be ready to go and be with the Lord and according to scripture you won’t have to worry about the day of wrath

1Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Have a great day
