Doing What You Want to
DOING WHAT YOU WANT TO
Judges 17:6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
Judges 2:11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:
At the beginning of the book of Judges Joshua had died and there was no man to lead them. Then God gave them judges to govern over them and deliver them from their enemies. They had 13 in all with Othniel being the first and Sampson being the last. When they did not have a judge or leader they pretty much did what they wanted and for the most part it was evil and contrary to God. They worshipped gods who weren’t God, did evil things all of which wound up leading them into bondage. Then they would cry out and God would send a deliverer.
Today we see this happening a lot, even in the church. People don’t seem to have time for the Lord, putting everything else before Him and then if they have time or want to feel good about themselves they are ready to play church . I feel, in the day we are living, we see every man doing what is right in his own eyes, which far too many times is not what the Lord would have him do. Then in far too many we see them doing evil in the sight of the Lord and serving too many other things. Notice it was the children of Israel that did this, God’s chosen people. So before we get to thinking that these were heathens, remember at times they acted that way, but were in fact God’s chosen.
We need to be careful in the things we do and with what motives we do them. I have heard people say, “they didn’t care what anyone thought they were going to do what they wanted to do”. “Take heed lest ye fall” would be my advice to you as well as myself.
We need to seek to do the Lord’s will daily in everything we do.
1Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
Doing what you want to will get you into trouble and you will be like the children of Israel calling out to the Lord for help. I don’t know about you but I need His help everyday while trying my best to live for Him, without opening the door for more trouble.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Think on these things and do them.
Have a great day
