Forgiven or Not

FORGIVEN or NOT

1John 2:12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.

As I think on the thought of forgiven or not. I have talked to people that were not sure if they had “forgiveness of sin” or not. My answer to them most of the time is simply this, “if you don’t know if you are forgiven or not you probably aren’t”. Scripture tells us that we may know this.

1John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

How do we have this eternal life? It is by faith in Jesus. You have to Admit you are lost, Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and Call upon Him for forgiveness and Confess Him as Lord.

Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

We who were sold under sin have been redeemed by His blood. Redeemed means to buy back, or ransom one that has been taken captive. Sin had us all under captivity.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

But we are afforded forgiveness because Jesus paid the price to buy us back and the price He paid was His own blood. The blood shed on Calvary was the only thing that could pay for our souls.

Friend, if you are confused about whether you are forgiven or not just answer these questions. Do I believe Jesus is the only begotten Son of God that was crucified,

arose the 3rd day and ascended up to Heaven and is soon coming again? Have you confessed this publicly? Have you asked God to cleanse you from all sin? If you have done this you are forgiven. I am reminded of a gentleman I visited in the hospital years ago. I didn’t know him but some of his neighbors asked me to see him as he was very ill. I went in and was cordially welcomed, I introduced myself and after some small talk we got to the matter at hand. His spiritual condition, I asked if he was saved, and he replied well I think I am. Usually the I think sets off red flags, but in this case he proceeded to tell me why he though he was saved. He had come to a place he knew he needed a Savior and had called on Him to save him. He believed that Jesus had saved him. Then he said, “if there is something else I need to do please tell me”. There was nothing else I could say except, “I’m glad to meet another brother in Christ”. He died a couple years after our meeting, still trusting in the forgiveness of Christ.

If you are not forgiven, you can be. Just call on Jesus to save you and accept the ransom that has been paid for you, and you will be saved, forgiven and on you way to heaven.

Saved friend I hope you realize you are forgiven, something we don’t deserve but thank God by His mercy and grace we are. We should praise him everyday that we are.

Have a great day!
