Is There Any Good News?

IS THERE ANY GOOD NEWS?

The past couple weeks seems all we are hearing and experiencing is bad news. In our area just a few days ago there were major storms along with tornado’s that took several lives. Now all we are hearing about is a virus that the “experts” are saying will take many lives. Financial crisis, many are facing layoffs, vacation plans cancelled, and nearly all sporting and entertainment events being canceled. If you listen to the news very much you are being inundated with the thought that everything is ending. Life as we know it is over. But have you ever noticed if it is so bad why are none of the politicians and news people not wearing masks and gloves? Don’t give into fear! Things may be bad and may get worse but you do not have to fear them if you are in Christ. Look at the scriptures:

2Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Luke 12:4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?

7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

If God has not given us a spirit of fear, then where does fear come from? The enemy. Jesus tells us not to fear man but to fear God, for He has not forgotten us. In the bad times or good times God is still in control. That is some good news, here is more good news.

Proverbs 25:25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

I have good news from a far country, a place that is out of this world, a place called Heaven. Good news if you are a born again child of God, He has a place prepared for you that is far better than anything we have here on earth. Good news, while here on earth take comfort that Jesus said “I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.”. Good news, if you are not a born again child of God you can be. The Bible says:

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
