Good News
Proverbs 25:25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
Do you ever feel that you are in a desert place in your life and nothing you do seems to bring you out of that dry and miserable place? I think if we all will be honest, we have all been in that situation at one time or another. If you have never found yourself in that place you are very fortunate. But I can tell you from experience, that it can happen, even when you feel you are doing all the right things. Sometimes being in ministry takes its toll on you and leaves you dried out. You know you are dry and you try to get to an oasis to get refreshed and it seems you just can’t get there. But you go around trying to not let it show that you are dry. But as the old saying goes “you can fool some of the people some of the time but not all the people all time”.
Sometime ago I was in one of these dry places, I was having health issues and felt that I might not be physically able to continue doing ministry work. Of course, through this time our adversary was talking to me telling me I was done and needed to just quit ministry and just sit down and wait to die. But all the while I was still reading my Bible, praying, going to church where I heard the Good News every service. But I still was dry and thirsty. Then I went to a revival meeting where a preacher friend from another state was preaching. That night I heard good news from a far country. I had read the passage many times before that he preached out of but that night it was like a drink of the purest, coldest water to my soul. It was good news from a far country, it was the inspired Word of God and we know that God is in Heaven, that is a far country. Here is the scripture that was so refreshing to me.
Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
That night I realized I was living in God’s secret place under His shadow and that He was my refuge and fortress. Friend, that is so refreshing. If you are in a dry place that scripture should help you or at least I hope it does for you what it did for me.
Look for GOOD NEWS and let it refresh you.
Have a great day!!
