I Ain't Got Time

I AIN’T GOT TIME

Nehemiah 6:1 Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)

2 That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.

3 And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?

4 Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.

Here we see that Nehemiah and those that were with him were fast at work repairing the walls to the city and their enemies were trying to stop them. Mainly Nehemiah for they thought if they could stop the leader everyone else would stop as well.

When they would send letters feigning to want to talk, Nehemiah told them basically that he didn’t have time to mess with them. He knew he was doing a great work and he did not want to be hindered in anyway. It seems when we try to do a work for the Lord that something always comes along and tries to sidetrack or stifle the work. Scripture tells us that Paul seemed to have the same problem.

Romans 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

We as Christians have a great work to do. We are commanded to spread the Gospel and it seems there is always something that tries to hinder that work. As ministers we have other duties as well but I am afraid many times we let other things get in our way of keeping the main thing the main thing. I’m not saying we just blow people off but we can care for and be there for others while staying on the wall and doing the work.

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

You see, if Nehemiah had come down off the wall and went to meet with these men, they meant to do him harm and most likely would have. But he stayed up on the wall and kept on working knowing he had a job to do and that he must see it through to completion. Each of us have a job to do, It may not be rebuilding walls but be sure you have a job to do if you are Christ’s. My question to you is are you working or have you come down off the wall to talk? If you aren’t doing your job the work isn’t getting done.

Let me say this though sometimes you have to come off the wall, sickness may overtake you, or your family. In the past 14 months it seems that this pandemic has caused us to come off the wall and not be able to do all the work we wanted to do and knew should be done.

But Praise the Lord, hopefully things are turning around and we may be able to get back to doing the work of ministry we had been accustomed to before all this started.

Let me give you some advise, get busy for the Lord and when the distractions come, just look at the situation and say I ain’t got time for that and stay on the wall and keep working.

Have a great day!
