A Time Like This

A TIME LIKE THIS

Esther 4:14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

Many have questioned over the years why the book of Esther was in the Bible even though GOD is not mentioned once in it’s text. But if you read this marvelous story you can see the hand of GOD events and deliverance of the Jews of that day. Esther was chosen as queen after Vashti had disrespected the king. At the time Esther had no idea how GOD was going to use her to deliver her people the Jews.

Haman’s hatred for Mordecai caused him to want to destroy all of Mordecai’s people. He made it appear to the king that the Jews were enemies of the king. He even offered to give the king’s treasury 10,000 talents of silver which is in our day somewhere between 100 and 300 million dollars, for the privilege of exterminating the Jews, He really had a hatred in him and it wound up destroying him.

When Esther’s uncle Mordecai heard of the order Haman had issued in the king’s name, he was grieved and sent word to Esther for her to speak to the king on behalf of their people, at which Esther knew she was not to go to the king unless summoned by him. But Mordecai reminded her that this exact situation could be the reason she had been placed in the role of queen. She returned word for him to gather as many as he could and totally fast for three days and nights and she would get her court to do the same.

She made her mind up that “if I perish I perish”. It was successful.

Would you agree with me we are living in a bad time today on many fronts. If you are a Christian you are called all sorts of things and men are out to destroy you and your brothers and sisters in Christ. But what if? What if you are in the kingdom for such a day as this. I think we have been too long about going along to get along and the time has come to stop that foolishness. We may have to go some places we aren’t invited and speak truth even when it rubs some the wrong way. We need to speak up and not be silent anymore. If you are in the number of the blood bought the world needs to hear from you, the church needs to hear from you. What if you were put here for just a time like this? Would you say you are making a difference, are you doing all you can to reach the lost around you, or are you making a difference for the cause of Christ? I am afraid I have wasted many years and many opportunities to make a stand for Him, although when I have, sometimes it went well and sometimes not so well. But I know His word will not return void. How about you? What are you doing with the time you are here? Right now we are not facing a death sentence for being Christians, that could change if some have their way. Ask yourself this question I have asked myself what am I doing with the time I have now? Be truthful to yourself, you see God knows what you are doing and why.
