Know Your Enemy Part 2
KNOW YOUR ENEMY PART 2
I Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour
Last time we talked about the devil’s use of the same things since the Garden of Eden and how it worked then and it still works on people today. Today will we see that he also uses other things to try and devour us. Lions will not usually attack the strong or a group. But try to separate one from the others, get it alone and then they will have no trouble destroying the prey. Be careful not to get separated from the flock (church). When you do this you become vulnerable to his attacks.
Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
The devil is described as a roaring lion. Did you know that primarily the older lions are the ones who roar, as they have lost their teeth and are not the ones who will go in for the kill? But the old lion roars to scare the prey and to signal the young ones to attack. When one gets scared they tend to do things out of character. Remember Peter using a sword? He was not a solider but was a fisherman. He was scared and tried to do something even though it was the wrong thing. We tend to do the same thing.
2Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Next stay strong, because when you become weak you are an easy target for the devil. He will attack you at your lowest and weakest moments. So even in times of weakness stay strong in the Lord, for He is where our strength comes from. How do we stay strong? By prayer, study of the Bible, being with other Christians and listening to preaching and Gospel singing (not just on Sundays). You will find that these will help keep you strong. I would also suggest that you have a Christian brother or sister that you can share with, pray with and for.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
We know who our enemy is and how he attacks. The best thing I can tell you to combat him is the scripture below.
2Chronicles 20:15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
