Lily Of The Valleys

Lily of the Valleys

Song of Solomon 2:1 I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.

Solomon writes that he is the lily, (notice 1 lily) of the valleys, (valleys signifies more than one valley). This I think is speaking directly of Christ as only He can fulfill this phrase. The lily has many characteristics that only it possesses.

A lily is a fragrant flower with a strong sweet scent. Scripture tells us that Jesus was a sweet smelling savor, as He offered Himself for the remission of sins

Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

A lily is white and very beautiful; exceeding all other flowers for whiteness. Within it are seven grains or seeds that are the color of gold. White lends itself to purity as well as gold. Gold also lends itself to royalty. Jesus was both pure and royal

A single lily may produce up to fifty bulbs. Think of all the souls that have been saved by the Lord Jesus Christ and became the sons of God.

According to ancient writers the lily was one of the tallest if not the tallest flowers. But it bowed it’s head down. Again a good description of Jesus, there is non beside him and yet he was humble.

Philippians 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

The lily is used to make medicines especially heart medicine Lily-of-the-valley is a plant. The root, underground stem (rhizome), and dried flower tips are used to make medicine.

Lily-of-the-valley is used for heart problems including heart failure and irregular heartbeat. It is also used for urinary tract infections , kidney stones, weak contractions in labor, epilepsy, fluid retention, strokes and resulting paralysis, eye infections (conjunctivitis), and leprosy. As the lily is used for medicine, Jesus healed many sick while He was here and has healed many since He ascended into Heaven.

So we see that this verse that Solomon penned really referred to Jesus, who is the Lily of the Valleys

Have a great day!
