MESSENGERS IN MALACHI

When the preacher says turn to Malachi most everyone thinks there is going to be a message on tithing. But that is not the case today. Today we are going to look at some messengers in Malachi.

The first one we look at is Malachi who is not called a messenger, but he is a prophet. Prophets were messengers who gave the people a message from God. Most of the time they would not heed the message but Malachi was faithful in delivering what the Lord had given him to tell the people.

The second one mentioned is the priests who were of the Levites. They were not faithful in keeping the law nor of seeking the law and caused many to stumble. They were miserable failures at being messengers.

Malachi 2:7 For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

8 But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.

The third messenger listed was the Lord’s messenger. He was called my messenger, who would prepare a way for the Lord. Many think this was John the Baptist, who came preaching repentance and telling the people that one greater was coming after him,

John 1:26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose

Malachi 3: Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts

The fourth one mentioned was the messenger, this no doubt was the Messiah who was the one that fulfilled the law and was the one who told of the kingdom of God. But as with the others few listened to the message that was given them.

Today we have messengers (preachers) all over the world but just as in days gone by when man would not heed the message, man does not want to hear what thus saith the Lord.

Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of saith the Lord by His messengers. Let me beg you today to heed the word of the Lord while there is still time.

Have a great day
