Talking A Good Talk
TALKING A GOOD TALK
Matthew 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Today we have a lot of people that are talking a good talk but their heart is not right with Jesus and they worship Him in vain. They are willing to take and teach man’s words rather than the word of God. Jesus had this same problem in His day, men were speaking one thing and doing something completely contrary to what they had declared. It might be better understood as, doing what you want to and thinking the Lord doesn’t know the difference. But my friend He knows all and we cannot hide from Him.
Jesus called them hypocrites. A hypocrite is : One who feigns to be what he is not; one who has the form of godliness without the power. The scripture below demonstrates this.
2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Jesus goes on to say that Esaias (Isaiah) prophesied of them. Saying they draw nigh with their speech but their heart is far from Him. Where is your heart today? Do you talk a lot about Jesus but they are only words because you are not close to Him.
Then He says they worship in vain (Empty; worthless; having no substance, value or importance). Empty worship will result in nothing, no power, no salvation and no blessing. But people are satisfied with this. Not only is their worship empty, they teach mans commandments for doctrine. Our doctrine must come from the Bible and nothing else. Where does what you believe come from, man or God? It must come from God in order to truly follow Him with a pure heart and mind.
Have a great day
