Rejoice in the Lord

Rejoice in the Lord

Habakkuk 3:16 When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.

17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

In these last verses of Habakkuk judgment was coming and when Hagakkuk saw it his stomach trembled and his voice shook. Rottenness entered his bones, many think this meant he could not stand on his own. He sought rest and it was not there. The Word has warned us of impending judgment and the world will not hear it today, If it affected Habakkuk this way how will it affect the world?

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Habakkuk goes on to speak of a famine, no olives, figs or livestock in the stalls. What would America do if a famine hit our land? If we couldn’t go to the grocery and buy what we want, not to mention things we could eat to sustain us, we would see a panic like never before. Worse than the stock market crash in 1929 when men were jumping out of buildings and taking their own lives because of their great loss. I would hope we would not get to the point they did in Old Testament days when they resorted to cannibalism.

2Kings 6:28 And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.

But through all this Habakkuk said he would rejoice in the LORD, for He is the God of his salvation. He is our God today and we should rejoice in Him today, in the times of trouble as well as in the good days. Do you? If we are honest I am afraid we fall short in this area. But we should rejoice in the Lord always.

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Have a great day
