Stand Still
Exodus 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
The children of Israel had to have been fearful as the Red Sea was before them and Pharaoh and his army was closing in on them. They had to feel trapped. Have you ever been there? The way blocked before you and it seems that trouble is coming at you from all sides and behind you. I have felt that way and I’m sure that I am not the only one.
Then Moses gives them the remedy, “stand still”. What do you mean, you want us to just stand still and do nothing. I would think Moses might have said if he was a country boy, something like this, yep you got that right don’t do anything. Just stand still and if you will do that you will see the salvation of the Lord and you won’t see Pharaoh and his army anymore. Why? Verse 14 said the Lord shall fight for you and you just be quite. I feel that if we would take that admonishment today we would find ourselves in a better position. I am afraid that we get anxious and get all worked up about things that we really can’t change and usually we start to murmur and complain. All this comes from fear because when you are scared you are more apt to do something not rational.
If you belong to the Lord, He will fight your battles for you and all you have to do is give the battle to Him. He is the only one that can save your soul from Hell and the only one that can deliver you from being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Psalm 3:8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
As the words to a song go :
So why should I worry why should I fear, when this very same Jesus
He is always so near, He lives in my heart and
He hears when I cry, I’ll call on His name till the storm passes by
So from now on just try standing still and watch God move.
Have a great day.
