I'll Do What I Want To

Jeremiah 44:15 Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

16 As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.

17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.

In the passage just before this Jeremiah had pronounced the word that God had given him against the house of Judea. It was a sentence of judgment if the people turned away from God and went on their own accord to Egypt. After Jeremiah had given them the word this was their reply in today’s terms. We will do what we want to and worship another god. Their reasoning was that they had done this before and they had plenty. Not realizing that their actions was why judgment was coming upon them.

In our land and in much of the world today this is the mentality. We are going to do what we want to, because they say as it was said of Laodicea in the book of Revelation.

Revelation 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

But just as Judea didn’t realize or Laodicea and people of today don’t seem to understand there is going to be a day of reckoning. You can’t live just any way and get by.

Oh you might in this life but there is coming a judgment day and many will find out too late that they should have went God’s way. For we are told in Proverbs:

Pr 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

I don’t know about you but I want to do things to the best of my ability God’s way, for that is a way that leads to life. I hope you have trusted Jesus as your Savior. If not you have not life but without Him you have death and eternal punishment to look forward to.

My prayer is that you will do what you want to and your want to is to follow the Lord in all you do.

Have a great day!
