Who's Side Are You On

We are always taking sides in life. It may be arguments, politics, family problems or sports. We all are prone to take sides. Years ago I had a lady that came seeking counseling but she really didn’t want it as she already had her mind made up on what she was going to do. After listening to her for more than an hour, she said to me “I should get a divorce shouldn’t I?” When I told her no she said “what! You have heard my story”. I then told her there was usually 3 sides to every story and they were her side, his side and then there was the truth. Needless to say she didn’t stay long after that and soon was divorced and had another man and moved away from the area. We need to be careful when choosing sides that we choose the right side. Let’s look at scripture of people’s choice of sides and the consequences of choosing wrong.

Exodus 32:26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD'S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

27 And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.

28 And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

This was after the children of Israel had made a golden calf while Moses was up on the Mount talking with God. The Israelites chose the wrong side and it cost 3000 their lives. The Levites took God’s side and had life.

Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

16 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;

Joshua asked the people to choose this day either God or the gods in Egypt and along the journey to the promised land. The people said they were on God’s side.

God blessed them as long as they were on His side.

In Luke 16 we have the account of the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man was on the wrong side. He was on the side of riches and luxury. Lazarus in his poverty was on God’s side. They both died. The rich man was buried and found himself in torment. Lazarus died and was carried by the angels into Abrahams bosom where he was comforted. So you can see how being on the wrong side has drastic consequences. Whose side are you on? If you are not on God’s side I beg you to switch sides and get on the Lord’s side. Your eternity depends on whose side your on.

Have a great day!
