Wisdom Is A Great Treasure
WISDOM IS A GREAT TREASURE
Proverbs 3:13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
Solomon wrote the book of Proverbs, in a style that differs from the other books. It is written in a series of short sentences that will stand alone without connecting to other verses. In this first portion of the book it deals with wisdom. In the 3 verses above we are told the importance and value of wisdom.. First we are told that the one who finds wisdom gets understanding. Then we are told that wisdom is worth more than silver and gold and it is more precious than rubies and anything you desire. In my opinion we have many people that are wealthy with the world’s goods but are lacking wisdom. You may ask why I would say this when we have so many smart people in the world today that have invented so many great things and are able to treat so many diseases. The reason I can say this is a verse of scripture that says:
Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
The Psalmist says the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. Many seem to have knowledge but they don’t fear the LORD. They seem to have no regard for God but trust in their own knowledge. Can you imagine how much more these could accomplish if only they would fear the LORD and trust Him.
In your opinion, how wise do you think you are? I have met people that thought they were very wise, all you had to do was ask them and they will tell you. But if you stayed around them very long it soon became evident that they were only wise in their own estimation. Be careful that you don’t get to thinking you are wiser than you really are.
Proverbs 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Fear the Lord and get wisdom and you will be wealthy in spiritual things, even more wealthy than in worldly things
Have a great day
