Search Me

SEARCH ME

Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting

Here David asks God to search him, know his heart and know his thoughts.

See if there is any wicked way in him and lead him. This is something we as Christians should do today. But, I am afraid we want God to look at others and search them instead of our selves. If we ask God to search us we need to be ready to do something about what He shows us that is wrong in our lives. I truly believe the old song “It’s me O Lord standing in the need of prayer. Not my sister or my brother but me, it’s me standing in the need of prayer.”

Another scripture that shows what we need to do before we ask God to search us is found in:

Galatians 6:4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

We need to search ourselves and really take a deep look at our lives. I think you will agree we all have issues, that we try to justify as not being all that bad or not as bad as what others do. But sin is sin. You may not steal, lust, covet or kill, but scripture tells us:

James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

So if you think you have nothing in your life that needs to be examined think again,

John tells us that if you say you have no sin you deceive yourself and the truth is not in you.

1John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

To be all we can be for God we need to examine ourselves then ask God to search us in every area of our life.

Have a great day!
