You Are Never Above Being Brought Down

YOU ARE NEVER ABOVE BEING BROUGHT DOWN

Obadiah 1:2 Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.

3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.

Here we have Obadiah prophesying against Edom. They thought they were above being touched as they lived in the high places and had exalted themselves with their deceitful hearts. But God said he would bring them down. I am afraid many in America have this same feeling of superiority today. Many think we are invincible because of our wealth and strength, yet they don’t want to recognize that all we have comes from the Lord.

2Samuel 22:3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

I see too many wanting God removed from our nation and be replaced with everything that is anti-God that they can think of. Would you not agree that their hearts have deceived them? But if we don’t turn back to God we may see our nation brought down. I have said for years now if we as a nation turn our back on God we will become a rock pile as many of the nations around the world have become, because they have totally rejected the one true living God. In hillbilly terms I am afraid we are getting too big for our britches. We must turn back to God as a nation and not be guilty of turning on God’s people, Israel. We need to support them more now than ever. If America ever turns on Israel, I don’t care how much wealth, strongholds, or safeguards we may have we are going down. God told Abraham, who was the father of the nation of Israel, that He would bless them that blessed Abraham and curse them that cursed him.

Genesis 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

While I know Obadiah came with a message for Edom, we would do very well to heed that message today.

Have a great day!
