Know Your Enemy

KNOW YOUR ENEMY

1Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour

The devil is your enemy, be sure of that. He is after everyone seeking those he can consume. Don’t take him lightly as he is good at what he does, for he has had years of practice. Starting on the earth in Genesis when he came to Eve in the garden, he was seeking to destroy God’s creation. But even before this, in heaven, he came against God and wanted to take over, thinking himself to be something he wasn’t nor would ever be.

But he did cause other angels to follow him and they were cast out of heaven. He has been at work all through the ages since, deceiving and destroying.

Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Knowing who our enemy is one would think we would be on guard against his attacks, but many times we are ill prepared for his assault. Too many times we let the devil get an advantage on us, by simply not knowing the weapons he uses against us

2Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

He has used the same basic weapons since back in the garden of Eden and still uses these today. Compare Genesis 3:5-6 with I John 2:16 and you can see the same devices.

1John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Genesis 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

If the devil can get you to think you need something so bad, make it look so good to you and then you think that it will make you superior to others, then my friend he has succeeded. These are just a few of his tricks, and people still fall for them everyday. Then he devours their homes, marriages, relationships with others and their witness.

Know him for who he is and what he does and don’t fall into the traps he sets for you.

More along these lines in next blog.

Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
