A Good Pastor
A GOOD PASTOR
Jeremiah 3:15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
We have just come out of a season where we show appreciation to our Pastors.
If you have a good Pastor he is due honor and your appreciation. A Pastor is one that gives and gives of himself to his congregation and community. The scripture from Jeremiah 3:15 tells us that God gave pastors according to His heart, which is to feed the congregation with knowledge and understanding. That is what a Pastor does, he leads the people through teaching and preaching of the word of God.
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
But that is just part of what a good Pastor does. He visits the sick, councils the troubled, performs marriages and buries the dead. He is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. He really can’t make any plans, because he never knows what the day will hold. Then he has to prepare to be able to stand and give them a message that is Spirit filled, and accurate in all that he preaches.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
I want to say that I appreciate all the Pastors that are God called and Spirit led, I appreciate all they do to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and being a living example of Christ to their congregations.
I am very thankful for our Pastor, Bro Mike McCoy, who is not only a preacher but he is a pastor and very good at both. He inspires, encourages and empowers our Church. I know a lot of people think they have the best Pastor, but here at Crossville First Freewill Baptist Church we are blessed to have Bro Mike.
Have you told your Pastor that you appreciate him lately? Don’t wait for one month a year to show appreciation to your Pastor. We should let him know often. Don’t wait until you look into a casket and say what a good man he was. Give them flowers now.
Romans 13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
Have a great day
