A Saviour Is Born
A SAVIOUR IS BORN
Luke 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
The angel appeared to the shepherds who were watching their sheep the night of Jesus’ birth and announced good tidings (good news) that was to be great joy to all people. Also telling them that Jesus Christ the Saviour was born. This was great news as Jesus was the one that would take away the sin of the world according to John the Baptist.
Jesus and Jesus alone is able to take away sin. But one has to be willing to let Him come into their life and cleanse them from sin. Many in Jesus day did not want that, even though they had heard of His mighty works and seen them they still rejected Him.
We live in a day not much different. Although Jesus was born 2000 years ago He is still the Saviour of the world, and people today still reject Him. It is evident more so this time of year seemingly than other times. Because people say they have the Christmas spirit, when in fact in many lives there is no spirit. Christmas is not about Santa, gifts, trees, lights and dinners. You see none of these came to “seek and save that which was lost” and none of these can save anyone. It is sad that Christ’s birth has come down to commercialism for the world, also it has crept into the Church, as I am afraid we are becoming more about worldly stuff than Christ. Although we don’t know when Jesus was born we remember December 25th as the day. A few years ago no store was open on Christmas day, if you had a local drug store in your town the pharmacist would come in and fill a prescription in the case of an emergency, other than that everything was deserted. It was a day everybody remembered as Jesus’ birth even the lost reverenced the day.
So I have a novel idea this Christmas season let’s forget about all the stuff and worship Jesus. That will not set well with the ungodly but whether they like it or not, Jesus is what Christmas is all about.
Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
