Bless The Lord

BLESS THE LORD

Job 1:20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

Job was a man that suffered many things in life, even though he would have been considered wealthy. He had just lost his livestock, his servants were killed and even his children were killed and yet he worshipped the Lord. Wow, could you have done this? I don’t know about you but I think I would have the world’s largest pity party. It was bad enough to loose your possessions, but to have your children all killed at the same moment in time, would seem to be more than one could stand. But Job worshipped the Lord what a great faith he had. He only had a wife and a few servants left in the world’s eyes. But he had God and he trusted him completely. Later on after Satan had afflicted his body and he was covered in boils and was in much discomfort, his wife advised him to curse God and die. But Job kept his faith in God, even though he didn’t understand everything that was happening he just kept trusting. He did not know that in the latter end he would have more than he did before.

In verse 21 Job makes a profound statement that we all need to take to heart. He said and I’m paraphrasing, I came into the world with nothing and I’ll leave the same way, with nothing. But the Lord gives and He has the right to take away, blessed be the name of the Lord. You see we all have nothing when we come into this world and we can’t take anything with us when we die. I heard of some fellows standing on a street corner when the funeral procession of a very wealthy man passed by, one fellow said I just wonder how much he left, and the other fellow said he left everything. Have you ever seen a moving van following a hearse? I think of a gentleman that went to our church and he came into the world with nothing and left with nothing in the worlds eyes. But everyone that came in contact with him and got to be around him gained something that money could never buy. Bro Eurice was his name and in this life he never had more than 2 nickels to rub together, but he had something worth a lot more than money. He had a love for God and God’s people. I imagine if we could talk with him today he would say blessed be the name of the LORD.

Today I say BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD, for all He has done and what he is going to do, also because He has a name that is worthy to be praised.

Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

So let me exhort you to Praise the LORD, to bless His name, irregardless of your circumstances, if they be good or bad. Just go on and bless Him for He is due all honor and praise.

Have a great day
