ARE YOU WATCHING & WARNING

Ezekiel 33:1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

2 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:

3 If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;

4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.

7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.

In this passage Ezekiel is spoken to by the Lord and told to tell the children of Israel what to do. They were to set a man for a watchman to watch and if he saw the sword coming upon them he was to sound the trumpet to warn them. It was a stern warning to the watchman and to the children of Israel. The watchman was to sound warning and if the people did not heed it their blood was on themselves. But if the watchman failed to sound the trumpet then his blood would be required at the watchman’s hand.

Today we as Christians are to warn the unbelievers of the coming destruction and impending punishment if they fail to accept Christ. I fear that many are failing to sound the trumpet, which is our voice, to warn them of impending doom and an eternity in hell.

Why would we neglect such an important task? Some fail to out of fear of rejection, rebuttal or even retribution. There are some that seem not to care. They have the mentality that they are saved and they are on their way to heaven. Why worry about anyone else? I know that in myself I fail miserably. Many times I have let opportunity pass without saying one word about Jesus Christ being my Savior.

So as the title of this says, are you watching and warning? Are you just watching or maybe you have gone to sleep on your watch. Paul told the Romans it was high time to wake. If it was high time then how much the more is it high time today.

Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Watch and warn today as never before sound the trumpet, Jesus is coming, be ready!
