Be Of Good Cheer
BE OF GOOD CHEER
If ever we need encouragement it is the day we live in. Even as I write this many are struggling with the COVID 19 virus that has invaded our land. Many are distraught and panicking but Jesus told His disciples to be of good cheer. The word cheer in the Greek had 3 meanings or interpretations, courage, cheer and comfort. I know if you are lying in a hospital bed with tubes going into you it is hard to be cheerful, courageous or comforted but if we look to Christ we can find all of these. Jesus used this phrase 4 times and Paul 3 times. The verse that sticks out to me is in John 16:33.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Jesus wanted them to have peace, I believe He wants us to have peace as well. Also he warned them that they will have tribulation, but to be of good cheer. How can He say that? Because He has overcome the world. If you are in Christ you can be of good cheer in these uncertain days. Just because we are saved doesn’t mean we will not have hard times and trials, but we can be of good courage, cheer and comfort because of Jesus.
This is probably the shortest writing I have done so far but this is all I have this week. Be of Good Cheer! God loves you, has not forsaken you and wants you to have peace. We love you and have not forgotten or forsaken you, and we want the best for you.
Pray for our Pastor, Associate Pastor and all others in places of leadership in our church. We will be praying for you.
Have A Great Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
