Crucified

Matthew 26:2 Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

Matthew 27:22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.

26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified

35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

As we come into our celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ we have to look back to that dreadful day of the crucifixion of Jesus. On that day He laid down His own life for the sins of the world. He died that we might have forgiveness of our sins. He knew the day of His death, as He said in Matthew 26:2, but, He also knew He wasn’t going to stay dead. He told us so in John 14:2-3 as He said He was going to prepare a place for us and we know a dead man can’t prepare anything.

Even in His Crucifixion Jesus thought of others and said seven things from the cross that had far reaching effects:

Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Jesus cared even for those that crucified Him

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Forgiveness was given to the one who believed.

John19:27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

 He cared for His mother

Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Showed His humanity by questioning God, not doubting, but, seemingly all alone

Joh 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

Again showing His humanity in that he was thirsty. But refused the vinegar mingled w/ wine.

John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

It is finished or in other words 490 He had to do to pay the sin debt was done.

Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

His last words were to His father, he commended his life to the one who had given it.

As we celebrate Easter, remember its not about bunnies, eggs and all the trappings the world tries to sell this time of year. It is about Jesus the Messiah being crucified and buried and then being raised from the dead. Hallelujah He is Alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!
