Do You Swallow Camels?
Do You Swallow Camels?
Matthew 23:24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
In the preceding and following verses, Jesus calls out the scribes and Pharisees that while they claimed a moral and spiritual superiority, were in fact only deceiving themselves. I’m afraid if we are not careful we can fall into the same trap, of thinking more highly of ourselves that we ought. Paul gives us this admonition:
Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
I am seeing and hearing more “camel swallowing” daily, men and women trying to tell us that what they are doing is not sin, even though the Bible says otherwise. Look! if the Bible says it is sin, then it is sin. HOW HARD IS THAT? God did not ask your or my opinion on the matter.
Many have no trouble swallowing (accepting) sin as if it is ok, News flash; it’s not ok with God. I have read that some ”preachers” have changed their views on certain sins and are urging others to evolve in their beliefs. This is camel swallowing.
Remember this:
Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
But many who will swallow a camel (sin) will strain out as being the worst thing ever, a matter that has no eternal consequences. Such as the paint, carpet or pew colors, the amount of dinners that the church has or doesn’t have, ect, ect. Then there are the doctrinal beliefs that have no eternal consequences. Many will go to war over their denominational beliefs and not think a thing about accepting sin into their lives.
By straining at gnats we have many divisions in the body of Christ. We are called to live in unity with the brethren.
Psalm 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Don’t be a camel swallower.
Have a great day!
