Don't Worry This Year

Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

As you are reading this we are just starting a NEW YEAR, and with the new year many things have changed since this time last year. There have been new laws enacted, we have all gotten older, health issues may have risen in your life and for many there are family members that are no longer with us. But through all these changes that have occurred one thing has not changed and will not change through out all of eternity. They say that two things are sure death and taxes. While that may be so in this life, at death taxes will end for the one that has died their estate may have to pay tax but the individual will never have to pay again. Also at death if one dies in Christ they will never have to die again but those that die without Christ will face the second death that being cast into the lake of fire. But back to the one thing that will never change that is GOD.

Malachi 3:6a For I am the LORD, I change not;

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

So if the LORD never changes why should we worry? The only reason one should worry is if they are not saved. Then they really have something to worry about, because death can come at any moment to young or old. If you are saved you have nothing to worry about, it’s like my pastor says many times “don’t threaten me with heaven”. I don’t look forward to sufferings in this body or loosing family and friends to death, but will worry help in any of these cases? No it won’t, it will just keep you torn up and can even make you sick.

Matthew 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

Jesus tells us in the passage above not to take thought (worry). So if we will heed his words life will be much better for us. Although He doesn’t tell us, don’t you think you could spend your time in prayer and get far better results? Pray for the sick, the lost, your pastors, your church, the peace and blessing of Israel and for your own spiritual growth. If we would seek to grow spiritually we would be able to put legs on our prayers as we could witness, encourage and bring hope and comfort to the sick.

Like the song from back in the 70’s or 80’s says don’t worry be happy. In this new year let’s all worry less, pray more and maybe we can grow closer to the Lord and have that happy life

Have a great day and NEW YEAR
