Fear Not

FEAR NOT

In the time we are living in there is a cancer that has invaded a lot of people. I am not speaking of the disease cancer, but, something that has some of the same effects. I’m speaking of fear. Fear eats away at people, causing them to be immobile, sickly and even causes them to not have the strength to live. It causes so much harm to one’s physical and spiritual health that many times the damage is irreversible. Listen the words God gave Isaiah for the people in his day. It seems that they may have been dealing with fear then also. The words were for Isaiah’s day but ring true today as well.

Isaiah 43:1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

When He speaks of Jacob He is speaking of Israel. He tells them not to fear for He had bought them, called them by name. So when they were crossing the waters, rivers they will not overflow them. The fire would not burn them. Why? Because He is God, the Holy One, their Saviour. Notice He said He gave Egypt for their ransom and Ethiopia and Seba for them.. But He gave His only begotten Son Jesus Christ for us to redeem us. So why should we worry or why should we fear? But we do. There is one thing that we should fear, and that is to leave this life not being prepared to meet the Lord.

Hell, my friend is something to be feared. For if you are not saved when you die, you will never be saved and a place of torment is going to be your eternal state.

Jesus said unto his disciples when He was walking on the water and they saw Him and were afraid.

Matthew 14:27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

If it was good enough for the disciples it should be good enough for you and I. If Jesus is with you “be of good cheer” and “be not afraid”. They sing a song “why should I worry, why should I fear, when this very same Jesus He is always near”. So if fear creeps in give it to Jesus and let Him take care of it.

Have a great day!
