Forgotten

FORGOTTEN

Exodus 1:6 And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.

7 And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.

Joseph had found himself living in Egypt, not of his own doing. But, God used Joseph to save Egypt and the children of Israel. He was taken from the prison and put in the palace and in a place of power second only to Pharaoh, because the favor of God was upon him. He was there in the days of famine and dealt wisely with the people and gained much for Pharaoh. In this time he brought his father and kindred to Egypt to live in Goshen, and they prospered greatly there. But in time Joseph died and sometime after that there was a new king of Egypt that didn’t know Joseph. He became fearful of the Israelites that they would take over the country and the hierarchy would lose their position. This still happens today by the way men are afraid they will lose their position and power. The king decided to make it hard on the Israelites, in their workload, but they grew in number and strength, Then he devised a plan to kill all the males that were born of the Israelites. But that plan didn’t work either.

I fear we as a nation have forgotten God, and His Son Jesus. At one time the leaders of the nation feared God, these were wise men.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Just as God preserved the Israelites, He has kept our nation and blessed our nation. I think that is because America was founded on Godly principals and in order that we might worship freely. Despite what some say we were founded and stayed a Christian nation for many years but as I write this, I see our land has forgotten what God has done for us. Also men try and explain away Jesus Christ. Why? I think it may be for the same reason that the new king didn’t know Joseph, I believe that he was never told about how Joseph had been a deliverer of Egypt. Also I am afraid that in our own county we have neglected to teach the children of what God has done for us and what Jesus wants to do for each one. That, my friend, is how Joseph was forgotten. The generations after him were not taught of him. In America from the time of its founding until just a few short years ago, children were taught about the goodness of God and the salvation that is available thru Jesus. Now if Jesus is mentioned in public, many times you are shouted down, scorned or made fun of. All because some people let their children, in their younger years, decide if they want to stay away from Sunday School and Church it was okay because those folks said they were “open minded”. That has become a blight on our nation. You see I was taught about God and Jesus from the time I can remember. Every day after lunch I was read a Bible story out of an old Bible story book. To go along with that I was taken to church, it was not a matter of do you want to go either. Then when I got in my teen years, there was no open minded discussion about the subject, you were going, end of conversation. I’m thankful for that, for if left to my own devises I might have forgotten as well. A lot of bad things happened to Egypt all because the king didn’t know Joseph. Bad things await those today who have forgotten God.

Have a great day.
