What Hinders You?

Acts 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

Hinder means to prevent, forbid ,keep from, not suffer. Phillip had been expounding on the word of God and the Ethiopian eunuch had received it and believed and ask “what doth hinder me to be baptized”? Phillip told him nothing if he only believed he could be baptized. There are many hindrances in life but this was not a hindrance at all. For they stopped the chariot and Phillip baptized him.

Jesus was hindered by the unbelief of the people in Nazareth.

Matthew 13:58 And He did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Family can be a hindrance in our service to the Lord as many times we let our care and love for them get in our way.

Luke 9:59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.

Sin in one’s life can be a big hindrance to one’s life and walk with the Lord. You have to have a clean heart to be used of Him.

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us

I find the biggest hindrance in my life is me. I have a hard time getting out of my comfort zone and doing things that I should do. I’m always afraid that I will be looked at as someone trying to be something that brings attention to me. I worry far too much about what people think and say, when I should be worried about what the Lord thinks.

If you are reading this and are not saved, let me ask you a question what hinders you from being saved? Despite what the world wants to think everyone does not go to Heaven only those that have placed their faith in Jesus Christ and asked Him to save them go. If you die without Jesus Hell is your destination, and no one in their right mind wants to go to that awful place. So if you know there is a land of peace and joy and all you have to do is accept the Savior, what hinders you from making preparations to go there? On the other hand when you reject Jesus you are in effect saying that you had rather go to Hell than Heaven. Don’t be hindered choose Jesus!

Have a great day!
