Mary

Luke 1:26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

In this passage we are told of Mary, the one chosen of God to be Jesus’ mother. The sixth month referred to Elizabeth’s pregnancy with John the Baptist. As we learned in the last blog Jesus was a to be a virgin. The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city called Nazareth of the country of Galilee. His mission was to telll Mary what was about to happen.

Mary was espoused, in our language today she was engaged to Joseph, who was of the lineage of David. But if you look in Luke 3 you will find that Mary also was of the lineage of David through Nathan, David’s son..

Gabriel told Mary she was higly favored and blessed among women. Scripture tells us she was troubled when she saw him and heard what he said. That would make anyone troubled and cause one to try to figure out what was going on. She knew it was impossible for her to have a son seeing she had not had relations with a man. Then Gabriel told her not to fear because she had found favor with God. This seems impossible but with God nothing is impossible. But still can you imagine what had to go through her mind? Here she is a unmarried girl that has jutst been told she is going to have a baby. She could have been killed for this, but,God had other plans. Mary was quite a woman but, have you ever thought about it that Jesus came to die for her sins as well as the rest of the world. Because she needed a Savior just as I did. Despite what many in the world teach and believe she is not who we should pray to or look to for salvation.

Have a great day!
