Pouring Out

POURING OUT

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

Joel who many consider as the first of the writing prophets, speaks of a coming event that he never got to see in Israel. Many try to fit this in at the time of the Tribulation or at the end of Tribulation. But, it just doesn’t fit; it’s like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. At Joel’s time the Spirit was just upon a select few. But in this prophecy we are told that the Spirit will be poured out on all flesh, upon servants as well as their masters. God was not going to be a respecter of man, from the rich to the poor, His spirit would be available.

On the day of Pentecost it was Jews who were at Jerusalem on that day, and all those that believed the Spirit was upon them. Then later to the Gentiles who believed. On the day of Pentecost the people thought the disciples were drunk, but, Peter tells them that they are not drunk. But this is what Joel had told them would happen some 830 years before. After the day of Pentecost the Spirit came into the heart of everyone that believed.

Back to what Joel said not only that the Spirit would be poured out, but that the sons and daughters would prophesy, the old men would dream dreams, and the young men would see visions (have revelation, or see a vision). We know that in Bible days that many had visions, prophesied and dreamed dreams. Does that still happen today?

I think many times God gives us vision or revelation on a matter. I know many years ago I was called and asked to pray for a couple who were heading for divorce, supposedly the man was messing around on his wife. I began praying in the way the request was given to me but as I prayed my prayer changed to pray for the wife and I went to praying get her away from the man she is messing around with. When I finished I wondered why I changed my prayer in mid stream. Some months later I found out it was her that was messing with another man. Someone that didn’t know I knew either of these told me about what was going on as he was close friends with the husband. Thankfully everything worked out. But I believe God knew I was praying wrong and gave me the revelation of that in mid prayer.

The Spirit is still being poured out on those that accept Christ today. If you have Christ you are indwelt with the Spirit but if you don’t have Christ you don’t have His Spirit. The prophesy is still true today and will be till the last soul is saved.

Have a great day.
