TURN

Hosea 12:6 Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.

The book of Hosea begins with God telling him to take a wife who was guilty of whoredoms. It was a picture of what God was willing to do for Israel, as He was willing to take them back if they would leave their adulterous ways. But like Hosea’s wife Gomer they went away from God. Gomer left Hosea and took up with other lovers and finally found herself in slavery. Hosea went and bought her back. God has taken Israel back time and time again.

In our scripture we have a recipe for healing of Israel. It was simply turn to God, keep mercy, judgment and wait patiently on God. Just wait on His timing and don’t try to get ahead of Him. What should they turn from? Hosea tells us this

Hosea 4:1 Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

We, here in our land, should turn to God. We see in these two verses what is going on in our land today, The sad part is that a large majority of Americans do not know who God is. Many call a lot of men and things god, which are not gods. There is but one true living God, But the only way we can know Him is by Jesus Christ.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The only hope for our adulterous country is to turn to God. Repent, by the way that’s what turn means. If we will turn from going away from God and return to Him we have hope. You may say there is no hope for our land with all the killing, stealing, lying, committing adultery. But if there was hope for Gomer in that she was taken back by Hosea even though she was committing whoredoms, there is hope for our land.
