Remember

REMEMBER

2Peter 1:12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

Peter in this letter is wanting to make sure the people remember the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was wanting them to have the same faith and love in Christ that he had.

Notice in verse 12 he wanted them always in remembrance of these things. In verse 13 he wanted to stir them up by remembrance. And finally, in verse 15 he wanted them to remember these things after his death, as he only had a short time left here on earth.

Knowing this, what would you want people to remember after you are gone? Something to think about isn’t it.

As I write this it is the day before we celebrate Easter. This is not the typical Easter as we won’t be able to be together to worship on Easter Sunday. But we can remember why we celebrate Easter. It is resurrection day. The day Jesus got up and left an empty tomb. We as Christians should remember Easter as our day of victory. Because if Jesus had not risen from the dead we would have no hope and He would have just been another man. But, Praise God He wasn’t just a man, He was the Son of God! That is what I want you to remember, not only remember but to know that He is the risen Savior. When I’m gone I hope people might remember this preacher’s words of who Jesus was and is today.

The day we celebrate as resurrection day has past on the calendar, but for those of us that know Christ, everyday should be celebrated as resurrection day. As the old Hymn says, “He arose, He arose, Hallelujah Christ arose”! That should stir you up by way of remembrance.

Have a Great Day
