The Lord Needs You

THE LORD NEEDS YOU

Luke 19:34 And they said, The Lord hath need of him.

This scripture is taken from the passage where the disciples were getting a colt that Jesus would ride on as He made His triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The owners saw them untying the colt and asked what they were doing? The disciples answered simply “the Lord hath need of him”.

Not only did He need that colt then, I believe that he has needed men, women and children down through the ages. Even today He needs you and I. Not that he has to have us to accomplish His will, but He wants us. He wants us to be a part of His kingdom, to be heirs with him. He will not be less powerful without you or me but He will get glory from us if we will obey Him and stay in His will.

He needs us to be his hands and feet here on this earth. He needs men who will preach the gospel; He needs folks that will sing the gospel, He needs those that will teach, He needs those that will be soul winners. You may look at this list and say I can’t do any of that, well He needs you too. He needs those that will pray, give, be an encourager, cook food for the sick. There is a place for everyone. Maybe it is cleaning or picking up trash at church or for a neighbor, He needs you.

There is not one person in the body of Christ that is more important than another. Remember what Paul said in I Corinthians 12;

1Corinthians 12:20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:

Before you say I am not able to do anything, let me tell you what a Sunday School teacher told our class years ago “God does not call the qualified, but qualifies the ones He calls”. So you see Jesus needs and wants us to fill the roles of the body. The question is do you belong to Him? If you are not one of His that is what He wants you to do, simply trust Him and call upon Him for salvation. If you do belong to Him will you be like Isaiah and say “Here am I, send me” Isaiah 6:8 ?

I am reminded of the old recruiting poster for the military that said “Uncle Sam wants YOU”. I think the Christian version would be Jesus wants you and needs YOU.
