What Would You Do Today If You Knew You Would Die Tomorrow
What Would You Do Today If You Knew You Would Die Tomorrow?
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Job 14:5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
We are not promised another day, really not even our next breath. It is just something we take for granted, that we will wake up and do what we want to tomorrow just like we have in the past. But for some today will be the last day. Think about it, I’m not trying to scare you just get you to think about it. Because many times the last things people do are the things that get remembered the most. Here are just a few recommendations to consider.
1. Be sure that you are saved!!!! Not hope you are saved, but know, without a doubt come what may that you have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ with your whole being.
Scripture tells us we can know. This is the most important thing.
1John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
2. Be sure you are in a right relationship with your family. Far too many leave this world not speaking to parents, brothers, sisters and other family members. Some even leave hating their own kinfolk. Make things right with your family now because you may not have tomorrow. Even if they have wronged you forgive them and start a relationship with them.
3. Christians, be sure you are in a right relationship with your brothers and sisters in Christ. Again, as with family, make things right. If a brother or sister has wronged you forgive them and love them. Scripture for 2 & 3 is the same
1John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
4. Tell people you love them, show them you do as well. When you leave a friend tell them you love them always. I remember a late night a few years ago at Emory hospital in Atlanta Georgia, as Bro Mike McCoy and I were leaving the bedside of our dear brother Red Marmon, I leaned down to his ear and told him I loved him and I’d see him later. I don’t know if he heard or understood me but I believe he did as he held on to my arm. I still love and miss him and will see him later in heaven. For now, I have that memory of the last thing I said to him. It means a lot to me. I need to get back to doing that all the time. What if that was the last thing you said to someone, a simple I love you. It would mean a lot. Isn’t that what Jesus really said, when He died on the cross as He hung between heaven and earth. He said I love you and I’m dying for you. He didn’t say it in word but in deed.
If you will do these 4 simple things it will make your leaving easier on you and your family. If you live for many, many years it will make your life easier and better.
Have a great day!
